WarCheck Methodology
WarCheck is strategic, evidence-backed OSINT. It merges multiple public/authorized sources, preserves provenance, separates intensity from confidence, and never treats a single news/satellite signal as definitive proof.
Source roles
GDELT Event + GEO 2.0 + GKG GeoJSON + DOC 2.0: multiple independent near-real-time media/event, knowledge-graph and geospatial conflict signals. Wikimedia Current Events: current open-source conflict reporting. GDACS: UN/EU humanitarian hazard context. UNHCR: displacement context. HDX HAPI: optional ACLED-derived aggregated conflict context. ReliefWeb: optional curated humanitarian reporting when an approved appname is configured. UCDP / ACLED: structured conflict-event corroboration when credentials are configured. NASA FIRMS: satellite thermal anomalies when a MAP_KEY is configured.
Safety boundary
WarCheck does not publish live troop or weapon positions, target recommendations, strike optimization, or operational military guidance. Public event coordinates are coarsened and delayed.
Interpretation
Intensity estimates seriousness of the observed event cluster. Confidence estimates evidence quality/corroboration. Thermal anomalies may have non-conflict causes and are shown only as correlations.
Human Intelligence / Independent OSINT
WarCheck treats independent investigators, veteran-led reporting, regional field reporting and volunteer geolocation projects as a separate evidence class. These sources create leads and corroboration opportunities; they do not automatically become confirmed combat events.
High-verification sources such as GeoConfirmed, Airwars, Centre for Information Resilience, Oryx, Bellingcat, War Mapper and Black Bird Group receive higher source-trust weighting. Veteran/field sources such as FDD Long War Journal, Funker530, SOFREP, SOF News, InSight Crime, Alma Research Center, Task & Purpose, The War Horse and Havok Journal are used for leads, field context and analyst cues. Emerging aggregators remain probationary until methodology and corrections practices are established.
